A Message From the President

Building a club rooted in service, leadership, and impact.

By Erika Gibson, President, Fort Bend County East Lions Club

When we launched the Fort Bend County East Lions Club, the vision was never to simply create another civic organization. The goal was to build a club that truly reflects the needs, heart, and spirit of our community.

As a specialty Lions Club, we are proud to place a strong focus on supporting military veterans and first responders. These are the individuals who sacrifice so much for our communities, often without recognition, support, or access to the resources they deserve. We want to be a bridge for them, helping connect them to services, opportunities, wellness programs, and community.

At the same time, our mission extends far beyond any one group.

We are building a club rooted in service, leadership, and impact for all. Our goal is to meet people where they are and address the everyday challenges facing families across Fort Bend County and surrounding communities.

That means creating programs that support children, seniors, families, and underserved residents. It means addressing barriers to healthcare, education, food access, and opportunity. It means stepping up in times of crisis and creating meaningful partnerships that make our work stronger.

One of our first major initiatives is our free children's vision screening program. Through this effort, we will help identify children who may need additional care and connect families to free eye exams and glasses through our partnership with America's Best. For many children, something as simple as a vision screening can completely change their confidence, learning experience, and future.

We also envision a Lions Club that creates scholarships, hosts food drives, supports workforce development, provides community cleanups, creates youth leadership opportunities, and develops signature events that bring people together.

I want our club to be known as a place where people can serve with purpose. A place where veterans, first responders, business leaders, parents, retirees, and young professionals can all find a role in making our community stronger.

We may be a new club, but we are building with intention. We are building for the long term. And we are building a legacy of service that I believe will make a lasting difference.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.

Together, we will continue to serve, lead, and create impact across Fort Bend County and beyond.
